Once a upon a time....when I used to update the blog part 1

You know you have been absent from the blogging world when 1) you're blog background is from Christmas and 2) they have changed the look of the site when you go to update.  Six months is a long time and a lot has been going on.  I wish I could say that the reason I have been absent is because I was busy being an amazingly cool mom for my kids, but really I have just been tired.  Pregnancy can do that to ya.  So lets get up to speed shall we?

We were extra blessed this Christmas to get to have Mom and Dad Woodward come and see us.  It was too short of a visit, but we greatly enjoyed sharing the holiday with them.  We had a minute to win it  party while they were here, which was hilarious.  If you haven't thrown one, you should...right now!  Watching your friends and family (as well as yourself) act like an idiot is the best.  Unfortunately I don't have any pictures from the party, as I was too busy laughing.  But lets just leave it at this Dad Woodward can get an Oreo from his forehead and into his mouth, without using his hands, in under 10 seconds.  Next time you see him ask him to show you.  Love you Dad!  It was a wonderful first Christmas in Utah.

After the craziness of Christmas we got to have Mom and Dad Merle out for New Year's.  Once again no pictures, but we had fun playing monopoly and just being together.  Then in mid January Jason was honored with the Keystone award.  I found out it's a pretty big deal to get this award.  It's the highest award you can get in Jason's field.  Way to go, Jas!  Mom and Dad Woodward came out and watched all five kiddos so Jason and I could go to DC for the awards ceremony!  It was a nice couple of days alone.  Jason and I did a ton of walking as he showed me the highlights of DC.  We had dinner with some of his good friends that he worked with in Iraq (it was some of the best pizza I've ever eaten in my life, but that is a pregnant ladies review).  We just had a wonderful time.  It was like being newlyweds again.  It was a little cold, but we didn't let that stop us.  The only lame thing was that they were working on the reflection pond so it was drained  and filled with construction equipment.  Silver lining is that now we have to go back so I can see it.  Next time we'll bring the kids though.  I think they would love it!

February brought a trip out to California for my parents baptism.  We were honored to be a part of their special day.  Jason baptized them and I was a speaker.  After they were baptized Charlie made sure to loudly announce that Daddy had done a good job.  It was a wonderful day filled with the spirit!

Also in February Jason left for his TDY to Iraq.  The next six weeks were kind of a blur of crying kids, sickness, movies, sewing projects and failed attempts at potty training.  Mom and Dad Merle came out in March to break up the monotony.  We celebrated Charlie's 5th birthday as a family and counted down the days till Daddy's return.

April was finally here and we were so happy to have Jason home!  We got to enjoy Jason having two weeks off of work.  During this time my sister, nieces and aunt came out for a visit.  We had such a great time catching up and letting the cousins all play together.  I realized my kids get along better when they have company.  It was a wonderful few days while they were here.  Looking forward to when we can do it again.

I have also realized that I have been horrible about taking pictures the last six months.   Stay tuned for part 2.
